Since this book first appeared in 1978, it has sold more than 4 million copies. In 1991 it was revised and expanded. Now this third edition is fully indexed to the new Catechism of the Catholic Church. Written in easy-to-read, easy-to-understand language, Handbook for Today ’s Catholic details the essential faith basics of Catholicism, suggests practical ways readers can integrate the Catholic faith in their lives, and also discusses practical applications of post-Vatican II Catholicism. The book is divided into four sections: Beliefs: Explores the major Catholic doctrines that serve as “truths Catholics live by”. Practices: Focuses on the time-honoured practices that guide Catholics in living according to Church teaching (including the Ten Commandments, the Precepts of the Church, the Beatitudes, and the Works of Mercy). Living the Faith: Offers practical suggestions to help Catholics integrate the faith into their everyday lives.
